Important Factors To Consider In Interior Design
Certainly everybody wants an aesthetically pleasing space. Man is naturally a lover of art and beauty. As such, regardless of how he finds the means to beautify or enhance a space to his satisfaction, man would ultimately want to see it done.
You don’t really need to be in a mansion to live a luxurious life, nor would you need expensive furniture to enhance your home. There are actually a lot of simpler ways to make a space look appealing and attractive. The important thing is for the space to manifest the technical and creative solutions that are appropriate for it.
Fortunately, the design of interiors of a space is looked after by the interior design discipline. Interior design is basically a multifaceted discipline that follows a coordinated and systematic methodology of research, analysis, and integration of knowledge into a creative process which is applied into a structure in order to achieve a built interior environment. In other words, in this discipline, both creative and technical solutions are applied to a space for it to become aesthetically pleasing and comfortable.
However, in order to achieve the total effect that is desired of a particular space, there are important factors to consider. These are the essential aspects of interior design that have to be observed in order to achieve general and specific goals. Each of these aspects has an influence on the overall result, thus each one should be critically considered.
The first aspect is balance. It is important to cautiously position things to achieve a comparable visual appeal of these things with respect to the space. The easiest balance to achieve is symmetrical. This is the type of balance where everything is well proportioned. Another balance is asymmetrical, which is most preferred by modern interior designers. This may need a lot of imagination, but it certainly brings out the ingenuity and creativity of the designer. Finally, the last type of balance is radial. This type is also easy to achieve since the positioning of things basically revolves around a defined center.
The second aspect is unity. In any design, it is vital to establish a theme or a concept. In designing interiors, uniformity should be carefully maintained. If a theme has been established, everything else must be in complement to it in order to establish unity.
The third aspect is proportion. It is vital for things in a space to be proportionate with respect to their sizes to maintain balance in the space. When things are not in proportion, the total appearance of the room is affected because some items in the space might be overshadowed by another.
Finally, the fourth aspect is focus. In interior design, a focal object in a space must be established. This object will be the center of focus in the space and should stand out. On the other hand, even the focal object needs to stand out; it still has to be related to design or theme of the overall space.
